Things I Wish I Knew Sooner

Updated: Sep 19
Have you ever found yourself thinking, "I wish I had known this earlier"? Lately, I feel that way quite frequently. Knowing certain things earlier would have saved me a lot of energy, time, and emotional distress.
I wish I had known:
It's acceptable, and even recommended, to occasionally say "No."
It turns out that simply saying, "I can't," is completely acceptable. There's no need for a lengthy explanation or guilt—just a straightforward no. It's genuinely liberating.
Friendships change, and it's perfectly okay.
People change, priorities shift, and life moves forward. This doesn't mean failure; it just signifies the end of a chapter. Cherish the memories.
It's okay if not everyone likes you. Do you like everyone? Of course not! Once you accept this, you begin to truly live.
Your body will change. Focus on health, not getting back the body you had in your twenties. Accept this reality.
Don't compare. Nothing good ever comes out of comparing. Focus on your life and do your
best.
Rest is good for you! It doesn't mean you're being lazy. Rest is essential for recharging and resetting, and it's a way to take care of yourself.
Not everything needs a reaction. At times, silence can convey more than words. You don't need to react to every conflict or justify every viewpoint; maintaining peace is invaluable.
You don't have to explain yourself to anyone. You're free to live your life and make your own choices.
It all goes by too fast. The years fly by, and life is constantly changing. Be present and enjoy it all.
The little things matter. Enjoying coffee with a friend. Holding hands with your spouse. Watching the grandkids laugh and play. These are all small moments you will cherish someday.
